Terms of Service
Last updated: 10 May 2026
1. Scope of Services
Connected Self Psychology, based in Melbourne, provides clinical psychology services including individual therapy for adults and adolescents. Services are delivered both in-person and via telehealth to clients throughout Australia. These services are intended for individuals seeking psychological support for non-emergency mental health concerns.
2. Booking & Cancellation Policy
Appointments are scheduled in advance. To support the sustainability of our practice and fairness to others on the waitlist, we require at least 48 hours' notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours' notice, as well as no-shows, will incur the full session fee. We understand that emergencies occur, and these will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
3. Fees, Rebates & Payments
Fees are payable at the time of the consultation. If you have a valid Mental Health Care Plan from your GP, you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate. It is the client's responsibility to ensure referrals are up to date. We also accept private health insurance, though you should check with your provider regarding coverage. Payments are processed securely via our practice management software.
4. Confidentiality & Its Limits
Information disclosed during sessions remains strictly confidential. However, limits to confidentiality exist under Australian law. We are required to disclose information if: (a) there is a risk of serious harm to yourself or others; (b) records are subpoenaed by a court of law; or (c) we have a legal obligation to report certain matters (e.g., child safety concerns). Whenever possible, any breach of confidentiality will be discussed with you first.
5. Telehealth Terms
Telehealth involves the use of video or audio technology. While we use secure, encrypted platforms, there are inherent risks regarding technology failure or data privacy over the internet. Clients are responsible for ensuring they have a reliable internet connection and a private, quiet space for their session. If a disconnection occurs, your therapist will attempt to re-establish contact via phone.
6. Client Responsibilities
Clients are expected to provide accurate information to their therapist, attend scheduled sessions on time, and actively engage in the therapeutic process. For safety reasons, you must provide your location during telehealth sessions and have a nominated emergency contact on file. Disruptive or aggressive behaviour may result in the immediate termination of services.
7. Therapist Responsibilities & Limits
Your therapist is responsible for providing professional psychological services according to ethical standards and evidence-based practice. Please be aware that therapy cannot guarantee specific results. Therapists at Connected Self Psychology reserve the right to decline or cease treatment if it is deemed that your needs fall outside our area of expertise or if therapy is no longer clinically indicated.
8. Privacy & Record Handling
We handle your data with the utmost care in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). For detailed information on how we collect, store, and protect your information, please refer to our Privacy Policy. Clinical records are stored digitally using high-level encryption and are retained for the statutory period required by Victorian and Australian health records legislation.
9. Complaints & Feedback
We value open communication and feedback. If you have concerns about the service you have received, we encourage you to raise these directly with your therapist in the first instance. If a resolution cannot be reached, you may contact the Psychology Board of Australia (AHPRA) or the Health Complaints Commissioner in Victoria. We are committed to addressing concerns professionally and transparently.
